We’ve known about the Oceanside Sunset Market since we’ve lived here, but it took us until late last Summer to actually go. So glad we did, it was a surprise to see so many food vendors – amazing food AND it’s on every Thursday night. Every Thursday, not just Summer.

They have fantastic crepes, BBQ artichokes, home made sausages, Ghanian food, Thai, French, Japanese, Phillipino, fish & chips and then some! I have fallen in love though, with Red Oven Pizza. Ever seen a pizza oven on wheels?  It’s the best pizza I have ever eaten, try the Alsatian if you get the chance.

A bit of a surprise this week too – Aunty Devi’s meat pies had a spot – after two pizzas, we were too full to try them but have a bunch ordered for the Australia day get together at work next week.

Love this pic of my local liquor store taken with my new phone last night. Probably could have waited until there were no cars in the lot, but I’m impatient/lazy.

So stoked to have a new phone. As much as I thought I was content with having a pre-pay from 1995, now that I’m back to a smart phone, I’m loving it. I feel like I almost offended people with my choice though, What!? You HAVE to get iPhone! and Why didn’t you get iPhone? were pretty common phrases over the last couple of weeks. It’s also been referred to as, That phone, that thing and what is that?

I love iPhone. I’ve had an iPhone but I’ve never really had any brand loyalty when it comes to mobiles and I think at this stage all smartphones do pretty much the same thing. They all  have faults too. Everyone curses their phone no matter what it is. Honestly, I was just swept away by a giant screen and Swype text.  I’m sure iPhone 5 will have all this and more whenever it’s released. I just wanted to try something else out and anything would have been good after my pre-pay though.

Sure, I do not have instagram (yet – they assure us it’s on its way), in the meantime I’ll still find a way to make everyone look at my photos and read my status updates all day long. It’s just nice to feel like I’m in contact again…

Yep, I’m one of those people that takes photo’s of my food. I know that some people find this terribly annoying so I try and make it quick. I hope that people might find it a compliment rather than an annoyance. Anyway, I guess I like to remember…and share.

Breakfast is one of my favourite meals. Maybe because eating out for breakfast is a sign of the weekend, could be the bacon…yep, probably bacon. Our local breakfast spot is cheap, friendly and the food is great, plus they never let your coffee mug get less than half full. Seems that most places around here want you to leave with a full cup, glass or mug.

Things have changed. I’ve stopped whining about coffee and I really have grown to like the drip coffee they serve here. Sitting in a little diner with a plate of chorizo scramble, a side of salsa and a cup of joe – still feel so lucky to be able to enjoy this every weekend.

Bjork has been one of my favourite artists for a long time. Since I saw the video for Planet way back in the Sugarcubes days. Admittedly, I thought she was a little boy until I saw Birthday.

Now I can’t start posting video after video because I like so many, but I became mesmerized by her in Venus as a Boy. This started I guess, a lifelong following of her music. Most of it speaks to me, some is a bit out there, but I love her work.

I have been lucky enough to meet her (although this was right after the Singapore incident so I was petrified), seen her front row & back row, festivals, concerts & the most fantastic – at the Sydney Opera House so I think I have been fairly spoiled.

The new album, Biophilia, I feel goes back a little to the music of hers that I really got into during the 90′s soundwise, but creatively I think it’s from the future.

ANYWAY…I heard that she was going to do a 3 year kind-of-tour with the new album. A kind of educational/intimate show type of deal that ran every so often in different cities around the world. Carly recently sent me a link to this information about the shows starting in New York next month!

I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it, but I’m definitely going to do my best. The New York Hall of Science gigs sound just amazing!

I’m not a photographer by any means. I wouldn’t even call myself an amateur photographer, I just get some lucky shots sometimes.

This is one of my favourite shots of 2011, taken in late December. The Burning of Rome played at the Casbah, one of my favourite venues in San Diego. The singer wandered into the bar area and ended their set on one of the tables.

I really must learn to use my camera properly.

Not sure anyone will read this, not sure that’s important either. Just a spot where I can crap on with content that may not exactly be suited for Mayoress, you know, the boring shit that probably doesn’t belong on a fun site.
